The Eagle Academy Foundation

Who We Are

EAF is a leader across NYC public schools and organizations nationwide in training and strengthening the capacity of adults to advance outcomes for young men of color- from 6th grade to adulthood. We are the largest network devoted to the educational advancement of young men of color in the country.

We are a 20-year-old social impact organization led by predominantly Black & Brown professionals. 65% of our Board of Directors and 84% of our staff represent the communities we serve and bringing a wealth of diverse lived experiences and backgrounds.

Our Mission

The Eagle Academy Foundation challenges systemic barriers, thereby empowering young men of color to achieve their desired educational, career, and life outcomes. We deliver strategic direct-impact work and advance institutional change toward equity.

Our History

In 2004, a dedicated group of leaders from the One Hundred Black Men, Incorporated (OHBM) boldly answered the call to establish the Eagle Academy for Young Men in the Bronx. This movement lit a beacon of hope and transformation during a period of dismal graduation rates and disproportionate incarceration rates among young men of color across all five boroughs and throughout the country.

As a Foundation, we have met our goal to have six fully operating Eagle Academies in each borough in New York City and Newark, New Jersey public school systems. To date, we consistently educate over 2,000 young men of color a year and have graduated over 2,500 alumni who are contributing members in our community and throughout society.
