With the current calls for equity and anti-racism, educators are increasingly tasked with teaching new curricula that elevate the hidden voices that have been removed from our history books and left out of many classrooms. To effectively teach Black Studies and the hidden voices that are being introduced to NYC public schools, school communities require training and professional development opportunities to help educators navigate the emotions and trauma involved in teaching these subject matters. The Eagle Institute’s annual professional development conferences have served over 2,000 U.S. educators and school leaders since its launch in 2016. Given the immense and urgent crisis continuing to affect young men of color, EAF’s Eagle Institute remains ready to support educators, school and systems leaders nationwide to adapt proven strategies to improve the life outcomes for young men of color wherever they are.
