With the current calls for equity and anti-racism, educators are increasingly tasked with teaching new curricula that elevate the hidden voices that have been removed from our history books and left out of many classrooms. To effectively teach Black Studies and the hidden voices that are being introduced to NYC public schools, school communities require training and professional development opportunities to help educators navigate the emotions and trauma involved in teaching these subject matters. The goals of the EAF Mindset Readiness Training are to develop the capacity of the participants to:
Engage in productive conversations about race
Deepen understanding of your racial experiences and perspective to examine how it informs your lens as an educator
Explore the distinction between biased beliefs and culturally responsive beliefs
